Who are we? We are a band of 40K gamers in South Texas (centered around Corpus Christi) who wish to focus on developing the local community with an emphasis on narrative style games. Here is our vision.
Purpose:
Encourage the Warhammer 40K hobby in South Texas. The purpose of the Costal bend Heretics is to allow for a group of likeminded individuals with similar goals and values to expand the hobby of Warhammer 40K in the south Texas region.

Mature behavior
We recognize that at the end of the day we are playing with plastic and metal toys. We also recognize that in the heat of game players can get carried away. However, this is not an excuse for cheating, poor sportsmanship, excessive rules lawyering, or general immature behavior. Not all players will necessarily be adults, but should at least act like one. Please attend our events with appropriate appearance and hygene. We expect members to support one another in all aspect of the hobby. This means encourage others in both their hobbying and game play.
Narrative game play
We want to explore the vast Warhammer 40K universe via create a gaming environment centered on narrative play. Our goal is to conduct at least one narrative game per month culminating in a large (Apocalypse) narrative game once per year. We encourage any game play to include tournaments and casual games but feel that the greatest enjoyment for everyone involved is when two (or more) fully painted armies clash on a realized battlefield with a themed story.
Painted armies
We want members to adopt a three-color standard as a minimum for all played armies with the understanding that this is a starting point. We strongly encourage members to assist one another in improving their hobbying and painting skills. We fully recognize that a complete 40K army is a journey, not necessarily a destination. We feel that it is well within most players ability to have a 2000 point army painted to the minimum standards above. We accept armies that have not been painted by their owners as a fully acceptable alternative. We want our terrain to be either fully painted or otherwise decorated (i.e. gaming mats) to the fullest extent possible.
Organization
The Coastal Bend Heretics is an informal gathering of like-minded individuals united in the values discussed above. At this time there are no membership dues or positions of rank, all members are considered equals. Matters requiring a group decision will be handled via group voting of recognized members. For large scale or major themed events, a coordinator or coordinator for that event/narrative/campaign/large scale battle will be established and have final say in matters regarding said event.
Our first narrative events have been set on the Imperial world of Lemnos shortly after the 12th Black Crusade which has been invaded by the Black Legion for reasons as of yet unknown. As more players of differing armies join us we will be expanding to other nearby systems to explore other campaigns.
